THE MANIPUR FIELD TRIP was an international exchange project in late 2004. More than 70 individual and groups programs provided
cultural immersion and research for several American arts initiatives in this isolated and little-known region of the world.

THE PROGRAMS offered a look at Manipuri culture in situ, as a series of artist-to-artist interactions focusing on the strengths
of Manipuri and American culture. The visitors experienced Manipuri culture as well as made presentations of their work and
interest areas. Individual participation profiles, programs and presentations can be seen in the documentation site.

MEALS served showed what was distinctive in Manipuri cuisine. In the absence of restaurants, artists hosted these lunches
and dinners, following some basic menu suggestions designed to define and introduce a new cuisine.
