APPALSHOP IN CHINA, the exchange of media artists from Appalachia and Southwest China, completed its third phase in December
2005. Two Chinese filmmakers worked in Eastern Kentucky for a month on shared environmental, preservation and representation
issues of regional cultures. A fourth exchange is in the planning stages.
DIGITAL FLAHERTY 2001 was the first US interactive conference on the aesthetics, politics and theory of digital art. It was
an experiment in the extension of the traditional Robert Flaherty Film Seminars. and took place at the Renssalaer Polytechnic
Insitute in Troy, NY.
